Supersubmarina is one of those bands that suggest something big from the moment they appear on the scene. They are bright and overwhelming to hear. For their sophomore album, Santacruz, rising Spanish indie pop band Supersubmarina add a new member, Javier Serrano, on keyboards and vocals, and call upon the services of renowned Scottish producer and engineer Tony Doogan (Belle & Sebastian, Mogwai, the Delgados, among many others). Unsurprisingly, this gives their dark electric uptempo numbers and intense ballads a fuller and more polished sound, but at the same time they never stray too far from, or significantly improve on, the template of their debut.   

The title refers to a very typical expression in spanish, wearing a cross is supporting the weight of something, to have a sequel or scar. In this case, the cross is the heaviest of all: that of a breakup, the lack of love - "I can not stand this pain anymore / How heavy is your holy cross! / I want to see the light Tell me what you know Santacruz "
